Betdaq API

Betdaq API provides a way for software developers to create customised programs that can access Betdaq services, retrieve different kinds of data like prices, list of races, account information and make bets.

Betdaq API is provided in type of WSDL file with definition of all functions and data structures. Almost all programming languages and software environments which support web services can access Betdaq API.

At the moment Betdaq API is at it’s 2.0 version. It’s free to use, but you need to send request to Betdaq team in order that they can authorise you for API. Usually you only need to provide your Betdaq username and your phone number.

Accessing Betdaq via API is better than screen scraping the website because the API doesn’t change so often thus you don’t need to rewrite your applications after every site update.

Betdaq horse racing markets

Horse racing events have several kinds of markets listed on Betdaq. Usually for UK horse racing they are Win, Place and Each Way markets. What is the difference between these markets?

Win markets – only bets on horse which came 1st win. All other bets lose.

Place markets – bets on first 2, 3 or 4 horses which came first win. The number of places in the race depends on the total number of horses. A race with 7 or less horses has two places, race with 8 to 25 horses has three places and race with 25 and more horses has 4 places. Betdaq writes the number of places in the market window, just above the listed selections.

betdaq marketEach Way market – combination of Win and Place markets. Imagine that half of your bet is placed at Win and half at Place market, on the same horse. If your horse comes 1st you win both bets. If it takes a place you win one half of your bet (Place bet) and lose second half (Win bet). If the horse doesn’t take a place you lose your whole stake.

Betdaq trading

Betdaq is one of the leading UK sports betting exchanges. Providing a chance to bet on various sports events it gives great alternative to bookmakers. Available sports include football, horse racing, greyhounds, gold, tennis, basketball and more. All bets are made online on the website (betdaq.co.uk).

The best about Betdaq is that you bet against other people and usually get much better odds comparing to bookmakers. Also this means you can play as bookmaker, i.e. bet AGAINST winner. This way you can LAY horses so that you win when the horse losses. Laying horses is very popular and many users prefers it to normal BACK bets.

All said above makes Betdaq very close to regular stock exchanges. This is why it’s called sports betting exchange. You can trade buying bets (LAY bets) and selling bets (BACK bets). Odds play the mean of price here.

Of course Betdaq trading as any other exchange trading requires superior concentration to make fast decisions on trades. Sometimes markets are very volatile (especially when go in-play) and slow website interface is just not enough to provide reasonable speed. That’s why most professional Betdaq traders use special trading software (bots) for betting. We will write about trading bots in next articles, explaining all features of this software.
